This skillet apple crisp baked in a cast iron skillet is easy, delicious and the perfect holiday dessert to serve for Thanksgiving or Christmas!

Apple Crisp Filling
- 6 granny smith apples
- ¼ cup light brown sugar (lightly packed)
- ¼ cup granulated white sugar
- 2 tablespoon unsalted butter if butter is salted, omit extra salt
- 2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (or equal parts, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
Apple Crisp Topping
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- ⅓ cup light brown sugar (packed)
- ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter (room temp or melted) if butter is salted, omit extra salt
Apple Crisp Filling
Preheat oven to 350 degrees (set rack in center).
Peel, core and slice apples.
In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, white sugar, pumpkin pie spice, salt, lemon juice and melted butter. Mix well.
Pour apple mixture into cast iron skillet.
Apple Crisp Topping
In large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, pecan and salt. Mix well.
Add melted butter. Hand mix until crumbs form.
Evenly sprinkle apple crisp crumble topping over apples in skillet.
Bake cast iron skillet apple crisp in oven for approximately 40 to 50 minutes.
Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce (optional).
- Leftovers and Storage: Transfer to airtight container or dish. Refrigerate for up to 48 hours. Can reheat and serve.
- Nut Substitutions or Omission: If you are allergic to pecans, you can omit. You can also substitute other nuts such as walnuts, almonds or hazelnuts.
