This sourdough French toast is super easy to make and absolutely delicious. This sourdough French toast recipe has easy modifications to suit your breakfast needs while still making the sourdough bread the star!
Whisk together eggs, milk, salt, sugar (optional), vanilla extract, salt and cinnamon in baking dish or bowl.
Coat each sourdough bread slice with egg/milk mixture (top and bottom). Make sure each slice of sourdough bread is well coated.
On medium/high heat, add oil or butter to skillet, frying pan or griddle. Place sourdough bread slices in single layer in pan and cook until golden brown on each side (approximately 2-3 minutes).
Notes
Sourdough French Toast Overnight: There can be a variation depending on the type or brand of sourdough bread that you use. Use half of the mixture if soaking overnight. Depending on sourdough bread used, test moisture level prior to cooking and dip again if additional moisture is needed. You want your sourdough bread to be moist and fully coated, but not soggy such that the sourdough bread will fall apart.Egg White Sourdough French Toast: If you wish to make Sourdough French toast with egg whites, omit the whole eggs and use 4-6 egg whites total (approx. ½ cup of egg whites).Milk Options: Whole milk, 2% milk, fat free milk.Non-Dairy Milk Options: Almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, pea milk or oat milk.
