I lost 100 pounds in a healthy and sustainable way, through healthy eating and exercise (about 90% was food). I am speaking from my personal experience regarding what helped me with my success on my weight loss journey.
Weight loss is overwhelming! There are so many different diets flying in your face and people trying to sell you a bunch of crap – pills, potions, you name it!
WHERE DO I START?
First off, ignore the noise. I want to try and SIMPLIFY things starting with a list called:
My Favorite Healthy Foods for Weight Loss
Now, I am also a big proponent of calorie tracking (I will cover that in another post), but in the meantime, I am pretty sure you aren’t going to eat 27 bushels of apples or 67 hard boiled eggs from my list and blow your diet!
If donuts or pizza were on this list then we would both be in trouble.
The food listed here is intended to be a list of healthy options to choose from but you still must be mindful of QUANTITY.
The food is broken into the following categories:
- Rice/Grains/Pasta/Legumes (Beans)
- Healthy Fats
My favorites for weight loss are in BOLD
- Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast
- Bottom Round
- Extra Lean Ground Beef or Ground Round (92% or high preferred
- Eye of Round
- Filet Mignon (Beef tenderloin)
- Ground Turkey (99% fat free)
- London Broil
- Mahi Mahi
- Orange Roughy
- Salmon (Note: higher fat)
- Sea Bass
- Top Round Steak
- Top Sirloin
- Tuna (water packed)
- Bamboo shoots
- Bean sprouts
- Beets and Beet greens
- Bell Peppers (Green, Red, Other)
- Bok Choy
- Brussels Sprouts
- Collard greens
- Green Leafy lettuce (red, green, romaine)
- Hearts of Palm
- Mustard greens
- String Beans
- Swiss Chard
- Water chestnuts
Note: This list is not exhaustive. When focusing on weight loss, *I* focus more on vegetables than fruit. That is not to say fruit is bad, I just lean more toward veggies.

Note: This list is not exhaustive. When focusing on weight loss, *I* eat less in this category because these items tend to be more calorie dense and don’t fill me up as well. That is not to say they are bad, I just lean more toward veggies and lean protein.

- Cottage Cheese (Low, No-Fat)

- Yogurt (Low, No-Fat, Unsweetened, Greek)
- Black Pepper
- Broth (Beef, Chicken, Vegetable)
- Dill Weed
- Mustard (Yellow, Dijon)
- Sugar Free BBQ Sauce
- Sugar Free Maple Syrup
- Vinegar (Apple Cider, Balsamic, Red Wine White Wine)
- Almond Milk (Unsweetened) (30 Calories Per Cup!!!)
- Herbal Tea
- Iced Tea
- Sparkling Water (unsweetened)
Lastly, if you want to join AMAZON PRIME, AMAZON PANTRY or AMAZON FRESH it is a great resource to find foods on this list if you cannot find them at the grocery store. Personally, I think my delivery man knows me by name because of how much I order from Amazon. BUSTED!
