Air fried bananas are super quick, simple, and easy to make. These delicious bananas are the perfect healthy treat. Thank you air fryer!

One of the easiest fruits to cook with is bananas. They are popular and widely used as an ingredient to all kinds of dishes.

Some say that bananas are best suited for desserts such as ice cream or smoothies. But have you ever thought about frying bananas?

Yes, when we think about the word “fry”, cooking in oil would be the first thing that comes to mind. But with an air fryer, frying food has never been easier and healthier.

So I’ll bet you’ll be excited to make your first batch as soon as you know how to make it.

Why this air fryer banana recipe is the best!

Air-fried bananas are naturally sweet and deliciously easy to make. Perfect served over ice cream for an easy air fryer banana dessert (hello bananas foster!) or for breakfast. I love them on yogurt with some granola and nuts for extra crunch.

These air-fried bananas make a great snack, breakfast or dessert. Not too sweet and not oily, thanks to the air fryer. Perfect for a decadent dinner dessert or easy week-day snack.

Cooking in an air fryer is one of the best option when cooking food. Easy cleanup is my friend! No more greasy oven to clean up or oily kitchen counters to wipe off.

And as a bonus, air fryers don’t use oil which makes it a whole lot healthier than deep-frying food.

    Ingredients

    • Bananas: Semi-ripe or ripe but firm bananas are best for this recipe. You will need to peel and slice them into rounds before air frying.
    • Sugar: White granulated sugar or brown sugar. Raw or turbinado sugar also work well.
    • Cinnamon or Pumpkin Spice: You can use cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice if you want to add some holiday flair. Cinnamon is more traditional for a bananas foster flavor.
    • Butter: Butter is best for this recipe. If you don’t have butter, you can use oil. You can also use vegan or plant based butter. You will only need a small amount of oil or butter to coat your bananas. This will help the sugar and cinnamon stick to the bananas before you air fry.

    FAQ and expert tips

Can I add a different flavored seasoning to my air-fried bananas?

Yes, although the classic coating for the fried bananas is sugar and cinnamon, you may choose to put your own twist to these delicious treats. Pumpkin pie spice is a great option for the holidays and fall season.

How do you store leftover fried bananas?

This type of snack isn’t really suited to be stored for long due to its soft texture. For storage, place them in an airtight container and store in the fridge for no more than 24 hours.

Do I need to preheat my air fryer?

No! This recipe cooks quickly so simply place your prepared bananas in the air fryer basket and cook on 400°F for about 4 minutes.

Which banana variety is best suited for this recipe?

Any banana variety that you can easily find in any grocery store. Select a banana that is firm in texture.
