If you are new to the air fryer, I guarantee that it will soon become your favorite obsession! The air fryer cooks up all kinds of delicious food quickly and to crispy, crunchy perfection! And, cleaning your air fryer is a breeze (pro tip: clean after each use)!

I have a little secret for you. I used to work at TGI Friday’s and the TGI Fridays Potato Skins were THE BEST. That was one of their most popular menu items for sure. Now, TGI Friday’s sells their potato skins in the frozen section of most grocery stores. If you want to make TGI Friday’s Potato Skins in the air fryer, this recipe works perfectly!

    Why this recipe works

    • Air fryer potato skins are super crispy and thanks to the magic of the air fryer, they cook more quickly in the air fryer than in the oven. Speaking of crispy, be sure to check out these Frozen Sweet Potato Fries in Air Fryer.
    • Frozen potato skins in the air fryer are much easier than homemade potato skins. You can also add your own extra toppings like extra cheese or even some veggies like broccoli! I love dipping my potato skins in my ultimate sweet and spicy Wing Sauce. It is hands down the BEST! They are also delicious with this creamy dreamy Bang Bang Sauce.
    • Clean up is so much easier with the air fryer!

    Ingredients for this recipe

    • Frozen Potato Skins: There are many variations of frozen potato skins and they can vary in size. TGI Friday’s Potato Skins in the air fryer are a great choice and available at most grocery stores. It is important to remember that the size of the potato skins that you choose may slightly affect your cooking time. Farm Rich Loaded Potato Skins are also delicious and great in the air fryer!
    • Sour Cream (Optional): Dipping your potato skins in sour cream is always a crowd pleaser. If you want to get creative, you can try out my personal favorite sweet and spicy Chicken Wing Sauce which is great on just about anything!
    • Chives (Optional): I love to top my potato skins with some freshly chopped chives or scallions (green onion).

How to make potato skins in air fryer

    Instructions

    1. Preheat air fryer to 360°
    2. Arrange potato skins in fryer basket leaving room so they do not touch each other.
    3. Cook for approximately 10-15 minutes on 360°
    4. Depending on your air fryer, the size of your fryer basket and amount of potato skins in the basket, you cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until you reach your desired level of crispness as needed.
    5. Note: When the potato skins are done cooking, the tops will look very crispy. Take a fork and mix around the cheese.

Pre-Heating Air Fryer: I recommend pre-heating air fryer. However, if you choose not to pre-heat, add about 3-4 minutes to your cook time. Check for crispiness at the end of your cook time and add additional cook time as needed until your potato skins reach desired level of crispiness.

TGI Friday’s Potato Skins: Follow same cooking instructions.

    How to clean air fryer

    (1) Clean after each use: This will make your air fryer cleaning much easier in general as you won’t have to work as hard to clean off residue, sauce and grease.

    (2) Always unplug and allow to cool before cleaning your air fryer.

    (3) Using a paper towel, hand wipe any crumbs out of the air fryer basket and pullout drawer.

    (4) You can also use a paper towel to hand wipe any excess grease from the air fryer basket and pillow drawer.

    (5) Clean with warm soapy water: Be sure to she a soft non abrasive sponge or cloth. You don’t want to harm the non stick surface.

    (6) Use a toothpick to poke out any food stuck in holes of basket.

    (7) Clean inside of air fryer: Set basket and drawer you the side. Again, issuing damp sponge or cloth dipped in warm soapy water, gently wipe inside clean. Check heating element for any excess debris.

    (8) Wipe exterior with damp sponge or cloth.
