Cooking Spray: This is optional but I highly recommend coating the frozen dumplings with cooking spray to help it cook evenly, make it crispier, and prevent the dumplings from sticking.

Frozen potstickers air fryer cooking tips

Do not defrost frozen dumplings before air frying. Always cook them frozen for crispier results.

Preheat your air fryer for crispy results and even cooking.

Lightly coat the dumplings with cooking spray to help with cooking and prevent sticking.

Don’t overcrowd them! Make sure to give enough space for each dumpling in the fryer basket.

Follow the recipe and turn as needed to allow each side to cook evenly.

Depending on the size of your air fryer, cooking times may slightly vary. Larger air fryers may cook faster than regular-sized ones.

Always set a timer indicating when to turn/flip the dumplings to avoid overcooking.

Potstickers vs Gyoza vs Dumplings vs Wontons

Dumpling is the general term used to call a small savory ball of dough that may be filled with meat and vegetables which can either be boiled, fried, baked or steamed.

This is considered a staple food across China and other Asian countries. This bite-sized dish became so popular over the years that most countries across the globe have created their own unique take on this delicious dish.

But what makes potstickers, gyoza, and wontons uniquely different? Let’s find out!

Potstickers are a kind of dumpling that is usually crispy on the outside due to being pan-fried and steamed. Just like regular dumplings, these are often filled with minced meat and vegetables such as pork and cabbage then folded into a pleated crescent shape.

Gyoza is the Japanese version of a jiaozi which is a common Chinese dumpling. Its wrapping is slightly longer than a regular dumpling and is often filled with minced pork or beef, chopped cabbage, chives, garlic, and ginger.

Wonton is a kind of thinly wrapped dumpling that is filled with minced meat or shrimp and boiled in a light broth or soup.

How to reheat dumplings in air fryer

To reheat potstickers in air fryer, start preheating your air fryer to 370°F for 5 minutes. Then the next thing you should do is to coat all sides of the dumpling with cooking spray while your air fryer is preheating.

Coating them in oil will help crisp them up and prevent the frozen dumplings from drying out while cooking. Then place the frozen dumplings in a single layer inside the fryer basket making sure to give them enough space to evenly cook.

Air fry them at 370°F for about 2-3 minutes. You may add in a few more minutes to your cooking time until desired crispness is achieved. Then serve them on their own or pair them up with a great dipping sauce and enjoy!
