Ingredients
Whiskey or Bourbon: Any of your choice drinking whiskey or bourbon will work. Here are some other ideas for best bourbon.
Unsweetened/Unsalted All Natural Peanut Butter: Unsweetened/unsalted all natural peanut butter is best if you want the most pure tasting peanut butter whiskey. If you want a sweeter whiskey, you can use a peanut butter with sugar in it, or add granulated white sugar (see below).
Sugar (Optional): If you want your peanut butter whiskey to be sweet, you can add 1-2 tablespoons white granulated sugar or use a sweetened peanut butter.
Instructions to make peanut butter whiskey
- Stir peanut butter so thoroughly mixed (oil generally rises to top in natural peanut butter).
- Measure and pour whiskey into one bowl.
- Measure and scoop peanut butter into another microwave safe bowl. Microwave peanut butter for 30 seconds. It helps release some of the fragrance in the oil.
- Pour peanut butter into whiskey and stir thoroughly.
- Mixture will be cloudy. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to sit at room temperature for 4 hours.
- After 4 hours, peanut butter will have settled to the bottom.
- Place nut milk bag into a third bowl. Pour mixture into nut milk bag to drain liquid into bowl.
- Gently squeeze nut milk bag to get additional liquid into the bowl. Be careful not to squeeze too hard. You want to keep as much of the solids in the nut milk bag and drain as much of the liquid into the bowl.
- Cover mixture with plastic wrap and freeze overnight.
- After freezing overnight, remove from freezer and you should see fat has solidified and risen to the top. There will also be peanut butter solids at the bottom.
- Skim any fat solids from the top with a slotted spoon.
- Repeat steps using nut milk bag to separate out any remaining solids. Again, mixture will be cloudy. Cover and put back in freezer overnight.
- Skim any remaining fat solids. Repeat this process as necessary to remove additional solids and fat.
- Store in refrigerator.
