If you are looking for a delicious and hearty dinner, ready in less than 20 minutes, this air fryer swordfish is for you! Swordfish is a hearty and healthy fish that stands up well to bold spices, sauces and marinades.

My favorite way to serve this air fryer swordfish is topped with some rich and briny, herbaceous olive tapenade (Trader Joe’s is my favorite!).

Olive Oil: Olive oil or any oil of choice.

Seasonings of Choice: You can use something as simple as salt and pepper or you can check out my seasoning idea list below. You can also top with olive tapenade, a mango salsa or a spicy chimichurri or red chimichurri.

    • Lemon Pepper Swordfish in Air Fryer: Season with oil and lemon pepper seasoning.
    • Blackened Swordfish in Air Fryer: Season with oil and blackened seasoning (see recipe card for exact measurements) of smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, kosher salt, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, basil, thyme and oregano.
    • Air Fryer Swordfish Marinade: This Asian inspired fish marinade is sweet, spicy and holds up well to the meaty swordfish steak.
    • Breaded Swordfish in Air Fryer: Dip swordfish in flour, then eggs (beaten) then panko breadcrumbs (season each layer). Air fryer as instructed.

    Swordfish steak marinade

My favorite marinade for steak, chicken and seafood is this Asian marinade. Packed with ginger, garlic, sweet and spicy – it is the perfect compliment to a meaty swordfish steak!

    What to serve with swordfish

I love to serve swordfish with air fryer sweet potatoes or air fryer diced potatoes. Freshly cooked green beans or best roasted asparagus are the perfect veggie sides.

    Frozen swordfish in air fryer

Cooking frozen swordfish steaks is not as difficult as you might think! The most important part is to make sure that you cook your swordfish to an internal temp of 145 degrees.

FDA recommends cooking finfish to an internal temperature of at least 145 degrees. Times will depending on the size and thickness of your swordfish steaks.

FDA recommends: “When a food thermometer is not available or appropriate, follow these tips to determine when seafood is done: Cook fish until it’s opaque (milky white) and flakes with a fork.”

    Where to buy swordfish

You can buy fresh or frozen swordfish in any supermarket or grocery store. Costco and Trader Joes are good options. You should also check out Wild Alaskan Company for the freshest fish delivered to your doorstep! They have an amazing wild white fish box that includes pacific halibut, pacific cod, pacific rockfish and wild Alaska pollock!
