Ninja Creami recipes basics
Have you ever wanted to make homemade ice cream but didn’t want the hassle of churning ice cream for hours? Welcome to the Nina Creami.
Here are some of my favorite tips to achieve creamy, or perhaps CREAMI, ice cream perfection.
Adjust Your Freezer’s Temperature to between 9°F and -7°F (-13°C and -22°C). This is the best temperature to ensure that the Ninja Creami ice cream maker can efficiently process your frozen bases.
Place the Pint on a Level Surface to prevent any inconsistencies in freezing, it’s crucial to place your pint on a level surface while it freezes.
If the ingredients in the pint have been frozen at an angle or unevenly scooped out and refrozen, it may affect the texture and creaminess of your final product and can cause issues with the Ninja Creami machine (can get off kilter and in extreme cases, break).
If you notice any uneven freezing, re-melt the ingredients, whisk them again and refreeze on a level surface.
Upright Freezers Work Best. Chest freezers can be too cold and interfere with the mixing process.
Freeze for 24 Hours. I know its hard to wait but this is the best way to ensure it reaches the ideal temperature for optimal creamification.
Make and Freeze Multiple Pints. Batch prepping is perfect so you can e enjoy Ninja Creami ice cream whenever the mood strikes.
Tips for creamiest results
Don’t be Afraid to Re-Spin as Needed: If you ice cream is looking powdery after your first mix, you can add some additional milk and re-spin or simply respin depending on how dry it looks.
Pre-Frozen Ingredients Taste Sweeter: If you base tastes super sweet, don’t worry. The freezing and processing stages will reduce the perceived sweetness of the ingredients.
Dealing with Leftovers: Ice cream leftovers? Um, ok. I’m not sure how that could ever occur, but just in case a wild bird runs by that you need to catch and you find yourself with leftovers, simply flatten the top of your frozen creation with a spoon or spatula before refreezing.
This ensures an even surface and prevents any ice crystals from forming. If the frozen treat becomes hard after refreezing, you can process it again using the same program you initially used.
Ninja Creami recipes mix-ins
Mix ins are magical. Am I right? The addition of mix-ins to frozen treats like ice cream and gelato takes it next level. From nuts to chocolate chips or candy, get ready for some fun.
How to use mix-ins in the Ninja Creami ice cream maker
Mix-ins can enhance taste, texture and visual appeal of ice cream, gelato or sorbet. However, different mix-ins behave differently during the freezing and processing stages.
Hard mix-ins
Certain mix-ins, such as chocolate chips, candies and nuts, retain their shape and texture even after the freezing process and can be included in the initial Ninja Creami mix if desired.
Soft mix-ins
On the other hand, mix-ins like cereal, cookies or jams tend to break down during the mixing process. For soft mix-ins, you may consider hand-mixing after you have processed the Ninja base ice cream.
Mix-ins vs toppings
Adding fresh fruit (excepting for sorbet), sauces and spreads like fudge, caramel sauces, peanut butter, chocolate hazelnut spread or nut butters directly to the mix-in process is not recommended. These ingredients have a high water content and dilute the creamy texture of your treat. We recommend these types of sauces and spreads as toppings or hand-mix-ins after processing the initial ice cream base.
Ninja Creami Ingredients
- Base: You base will typically consist of some combination of milk or alternative milk, cream, cream cheese, fruit or any other main component of the Ninja creami ice cream.
- Extract: Extracts are often included in the case to provide a specific flavor profile.
- Mix-Ins: Mix ins are added after the initial spin of the base mixture. Mix-ins can be include Cookie dough chunks, mini chocolate chips, almonds, marshmallow topping, chocolate sandwich cookies, mint extract, mini chocolate chips, maple extract, walnuts, brownie chunks, pistachios, mini pretzels, potato chips, chocolate candies, root beer extract, candy cane pieces, chocolate covered caramel candy, pecans, chocolate toffee bar, graham cracker pieces, Oreo cookie crumbs, peanut butter swirl, caramel sauce, fresh fruit chunks, Nutella swirl, M&Ms, cinnamon sugar swirl, honey drizzle, cookie butter spread, coconut flakes.
Ninja Creami Recipes Instructions
Make Base
- Place the pint on a level surface (you do not want ingredients to freeze at an angle as this will cause problems with spinning).
- Combine any base ingredients (use medium bowl if many ingredients).
Freeze
- Pour base into an empty CREAMi® Pint. Place storage lid on pint and freeze for 24 hours.
Process in Ninja Creami
- Remove pint from freezer, remove lid from pint and blend in Ninja CREAMi.
- Select the program that matches your base: ICE CREAM, GELATO or LITE ICE CREAM.
- Remix 1-2 additional times as necessary. Can add splash of liquid if too thick.
Add Mix-Ins
- With a spoon, create a 1½ -inch wide hole that reaches the bottom of the pint. Add your mix-ins to the hole in the pint.
- Press MIX-IN program or hand stir in mix ins if preferred.
Dairy Free Substitutes
Use vegan cream cheese for cream cheese, unsweetened coconut cream for heavy cream, and unsweetened oat milk for whole milk. Whisk the coconut cream until smooth, then add the remaining ingredients.
Dairy Milk Free Substitutes
- Almond milk
- Soy milk
- Coconut milk
- Oat milk
- Rice milk
- Cashew milk
- Hemp milk
- Pea milk
- Flax milk
- Macadamia nut milk
Lighter Modifications
Use ½ teaspoon stevia and 2 ½ tablespoons raw agave nectar for granulated sugar. Process on the LITE ICE CREAM program.
Leftovers and Storage Tips
- To maintain the quality of leftover frozen treats, flatten the top with a spoon or spatula before refreezing to prevent ice crystals.
- If the treat becomes hard after refreezing, process it again using the same program. If it remains soft, enjoy it as is. Keep in mind that processing leftovers with mix-ins may create new flavors and textures.
