Perfect for any event such as a week-night dinner, backyard barbeque or summer party. Great on labor day, 4th of July and more. Love a 3 day weekend vibe! You can keep and leftover Philly cheesesteak in the freezer or refrigerator. Easily reheat in microwave or air fryer.
Ingredients
- Hoagie Rolls: A hoagie or bolero bun are more traditional but you can use whatever buns you love. Onion and King’s Hawaiian buns are also delish!
- Butter: Salted or unsalted butter based on your preference.
- Onion: Sweet are my favorite. You can also use red, white or yellow.
- Bell Pepper: I love red but you can use green bell peppers, yellow, orange or mix the colors!
- Beef/Steak: Ribeye, deli roast beef or other beef of choice (see below section for Philly cheesesteak meat options).
- Oil: Vegetable oil or other high heat oil.
- Cheese: The best cheese depends on what you enjoy. Try Monterey jack cheese, provolone cheese, American cheese or even imitation spray cheese!
- Seasoning: Lawry’s, Montreal or seasoning of choice.
How to make Philly cheesesteak on Blackstone
- Preheat the Blackstone to medium-high heat.
- Slice hoagie rolls in half (lengthwise) using a serrated knife. Spread butter on all sides of each roll.
- Cut onions, peppers and beef of choice. Place veggies and meat in separate bowls.
- Drizzle onions and peppers with 1-2 tablespoons of oil and season. Mix well.
- Drizzle ribeye with 1-2 tablespoons of oil and and season. Mix well.
- Add vegetable oil to griddle and spread to coat grill.
- For all of your ingredients, mix them every minute or so through the cooking process as needed.
- Place steak in an even layer on the Blackstone. Let brown for a couple of minutes undisturbed then flip. Sautee until steak is fully cooked.
- To a separate portion of the Blackstone, add vegetables, cook until soft and caramelized.
- To a separate portion of the Blackstone, add hoagie rolls. Cook until golden brown and then flip. Cook until golden brown on second side (1-2 minutes per side). Set aside on plate.
- Once onions and peppers are finished cooking, mix them into the beef and top everything with shredded cheese or slices of provolone cheese for the perfect cheese melt. Allow cheese to melt and using heat safe spatula, transfer to toasted hoagie rolls. Enjoy!

Great meat options for authentic Philly cheese steak include deli roast beef (super easy!) ribeye (shaved steak), tri tip, top sirloin, skirt steak, flank steak, tenderloin, New York strip, chuck steak, brisket or even thin or deli chicken breast for a Blackstone chicken philly cheesesteak.

Salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, thyme, cayenne and steak blend (such as Lawry’s or Montreal).

Blackstone Philly Cheesesteak

- 1 large sweet onion (halved and thinly sliced)
- 1 red, green, orange or yellow bell pepper (thinly sliced)
- 2 pounds ribeye steak or beef of choice* (sliced thinly) *See notes for best beef options.
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil (and additional as needed for Blackstone)
- 1 cup shredded cheese of choice (Monterey jack, provolone, American). *Can also use cheese whiz
- 2 teaspoon Lawry’s seasoning salt or seasoning of choice
Instructions
