    Ingredients for this recipe

Oat Flour Pancakes (Vegan and Dairy Free)

    • Oats or Oat Flour: While oats and oat flour are generally gluten free, there can often be cross contamination at the packaging facility with products that contain gluten. For gluten free oat flour pancakes, be sure to buy a brand specifically designated as gluten free.
    • Baking powder
    • Salt
    • Maple Syrup
    • Almond Milk: You can use unsweetened vanilla almond milk or unsweetened plain almond milk. Other alternative and plant based milks that work well in this recipe are soy milk, coconut milk, pea milk or oat milk.
    • Flax Egg: To make a flax egg, mix one tablespoon of flaxseed meal with three tablespoons of water. Allow to sit refrigerated for about 10 minutes to thicken.
    • Oil or Vegan Butter: You can find oil or vegan butter (example: Miyoko’s brand vegan butter) in the dairy aisle at most grocery stores. This organic vegan ghee is also a great option and is gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and keto certified.
    • Optional: Teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Boxed Pancake Mix Option: You can use your favorite boxed oatmeal pancake mix instead of making your pancakes from scratch. Just, follow the vegan and dairy substitutions in this recipe (flax egg, almond milk, vegan butter).

    Optional Toppings

    • Fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries)
    • Cinnamon
    • Vegan whipped cream

    How to make oat flour

If you have never made oat flour before, it is super easy! Simply take regular oats or quick oats (the ones you use for oatmeal) and add them to your food processor. Blend them until they reach the consistency of a fine powder.

If you don’t want to make your own oat flour, you can also buy oat flour and gluten free oat flour online or in your local grocery store.

How to make oat flour pancakes

You can use this simple oat flour pancakes recipe to make oat flour banana pancakes or oat flour pumpkin pancakes! Just add equal parts banana or pumpkin in place of the almond milk. Add slowly until you have a pancake batter consistency.

Banana oat flour pancakes are super delicious with a sprinkle of granola and drizzle of honey. Some recipes call for a splash of apple cider vinegar but I have not found that to be necessary.

    Oat Flour Pancakes

    1. In separate bowls, mix wet ingredients and mix dry ingredients. Combine wet and dry ingredients and thoroughly mix.
    2. Let batter sit for about 5 minutes to allow oats to absorb moisture.
    3. Heat your pan, griddle or skillet to medium high heat.
    4. Pour pancakes mixture into pan (approx. ¼ cup per pancake).
    5. Cook until golden brown, flipping the vegan oat flour pancakes halfway.

    Vegan Protein Pancakes

    • Substitute 2 scoops of vegan protein powder for equal parts oat flour.

    Optional Toppings

    • Top with additional sprinkle of fresh berries, cinnamon and/or vegan whipped cream.

I ran out of flour but had oatmeal and was craving pancakes. I ground my oatmeal to use for this oat flour pancake recipe and the pancakes were delicious! I might be making my pancakes from oat flour instead of regular flour going forward. A much healthier option and my toddler loved them!
